Keith L. Hephner, Jr. admitted to Roane County investigators that he set nine fires in the county.
Hephner was terminated from the South Roane County Volunteer Fire Department.

25% of TN Arsons Committed by Youths |
|
According to reports, 25% of acts of arson in Tennessee during 2011 were committed by junveniles.
The State Bomb and Arson Section is conducting demonstrations and Q&A sessions around the state to highlight this problem in conjunction with the national Arson Awareness Week campaign. The them for 2012 is Prevent Youth Firesetting.

Teen Girl Charged in Germantown Hotel Arson |

A fire over the weekend prompted evacuation of a Germantown, TN Homewood Suites hotel.
Police arrested a thirteen old female was arrested and charged with aggravated arson in the case. The custodial parents of the teen were in the hotel room at the time of the fire.
The same family and teen were living in the former home of Isaac Hayes when it burned last week.
According to the Shelby County Fire Department, through reporting by wmctv.com, the home where the family lived prior to that burned down a year ago.

Memphis High School Evacuated for Second Time in Days |

A fire set in a trash can caused the evacuation of Craigmont HS in Memphis only a few days after explosions from homemade "bottle" bombs disrupted classes.
The fire was quickly extinguished and students returned to their rooms.
Two teenagers have been charged with arson in the case.

$300,000 Bond in Memphis School Bomb "Prank" |

Two 18 year-old Memphis students were charged with aggravated assault, felony reckless endangerment, and possession of a prohibited weapon. Their bond was set at $300,000 each.
Leviticus Lacy and Tarif Johnson are believed to be responsible for the detonation of two homemade "bottle bombs" at Craigmont High School yesterday in Memphis.
One assistant principal was transported to the hospital as a precaution due to a pre-existing medical conditon.
